Domain Name Registration and Hosting

Our hosting packages require the use of a domain name and we provide an affordable and easy domain name registration and management service at WiserDomains.co.uk. Our domain registration service allows you to set nameservers, web forwarding, email forwarding, domain parking and more yourself through the WiserDomains.co.uk user account interface. WiserHosting.com hosting packages are based on domain hosting, and once you own a domain name you have basically two options:

1) To change your domain name's nameserver settings as shown below in order for your website and email at WiserHosting.com to become available using your domain name. The nameserver settings of your domain name can be changed yourself if you have domain management facilities such as those offered by WiserDomains.co.uk, or by requesting that your domain registrar make the nameserver changes for you.

2) If your existing domain registrar is not able to simply change your domain name's nameserver settings, then you will have to transfer control of your domain name to WiserDomains.co.uk. To do this simply create a free account at WiserDomains.co.uk and then initiate the transfer-in of your domain name from your existing registrar using the 'Transfer From Another Registrar' option on the 'Manage Domain' menu at the WiserDomains.co.uk website.

You should modify your domain name's NAMESERVER details as shown below:

 

UK domain names have what is called an IPS TAG which identifies the organisation acting as the domain name's registrar. If your domain registrar or hosting company tell you that you cannot set the nameservers for your domain without first changing the IPS TAG (i.e. you need to transfer out control of the domain), then you can transfer your domain name to WiserDomains.co.uk by setting up a free WiserDomains.co.uk account and initiating the transfer from the members area (please see OPTION 2 above).

Once your domain's Nameservers have been set, it should take between 24 to 48 hours for the new domain name settings to propagate throughout the internet.

If you are transferring control of your domain name from your existing registrar then the time taken will largely depend on how quickly your registrar acts on the transfer request. There is a maximum allowed period of 5 days for your current registrar to act on a transfer request before the request will be cancelled.

You will not be able to access your WiserHosting.com website via your domain name nor use MS FrontPage extensions during this period (FTP can be accessed as soon as your hosting account is set up using the ftp hostname of your server, please refer to your 'welcome' email for details).
